Community Service

County of Fairfax VA Seal

The Fairfax County Department of Family Services provides year-round support to local Virginians experiencing times of hardship. For families in need, the holidays are a season which requires significant additional support. Fairfax County recognized this challenge and established the Adopt-a-Family outreach program in 2006. With donations from county residents, faith-based groups, and local businesses like Kingfisher, this community-dedicated organization uplifts struggling families by providing the gifts, food, clothing, and financial assistance so desperately needed. Kingfisher is honored to collect requested items donated by our Employees in support of this vital program.

Fisher House Logo

The Fisher House Foundation is best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. These homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, close to the medical center or hospital they serve. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $235 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation. Kingfisher was founded by four service-disabled veterans and we are committed to supporting the military, veterans, and their families.

The goal of the Lexington Institute to inform, educate, and shape the public debate of national priorities in those areas that are of surpassing importance to the future success of democracy, such as national security, education reform, tax reform, immigration, and Federal policy concerning science and technology.

No Shave November Logo
Each year, Kingfisher participates in a cancer awareness movement by hosting a contest for the best beards or mustaches company wide. Every November, our Team is encouraged not to shave for the course of the month in an effort to raise money and show unity in our fight against all forms of cancer. As a company, we have been touched by cancer and the havoc it raises on our families and friends, providing fuel for Kingfisher’s fight for a much-needed cure.

If you have received a card or information from one of our staff participating in “No Shave November” activities, please consider contributing to the cancer research or prevention charity of your choice. Two that we are aware of with high ratings as non-profits are the Colon Cancer Alliance (http://www.ccalliance.org) and more locally, the Fight Colorectal Cancer Organization (http://fightcolorectalcancer.org).
